Avenged Sevenfold
Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 06:06 PM
I'm bummed because I have to miss their concert in a couple of weeks. Man that will be great. Don't know who they are? Well there are very few of you who read this that would actually like them. I love this little interlude in the first song of their new CD.

"So how does it feel to know that someones kid in the heart of America has blood on their hands, fighting to defend your rights so you can maintain the lifestyle that insults this family's existence.
Well, where I'm from we have a special salute we wave high in the air towards all those pompous asses who spend their days pointing fingers!"

You can probably guess what the next two words are.

I love the intensity. That's probably why I'm still (I think I'm way out of cool range) addicted to bands like In This Moment, Within Temptation, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Inches of Blood, and Paul Potts. Wait a second...

Didn't get it

We did not get the contract. We'll get the next one but it's going to be a tough couple of months. Bad timing for that.

Anticipation
Thursday, November 15, 2007, 10:25 AM
No snow yet and we're into the third week of November. Woot!

I also learn about our NASA proposal tomorrow. I'm nervous, but it's more relief that the process is almost over...or maybe it isn't.

No snow yet
Saturday, November 10, 2007, 06:46 PM
We're into the second week of November and still no snow. Today we rented an excavator to do some work on the house. We had extra time so we built a sled run for the kids, but I can't wait to ride it myself. Once it snows I'll show before and after pictures.

4th Time is A Charm
Thursday, November 8, 2007, 10:33 PM
This guy was a monster! I tracked him for 6 hours through a frozen wasteland and...

No, not really. Justin and I drove into his friend's property and about 2 minutes later we found a little buck. I got out of the truck and shot him. That was pretty much it.

He is a 2 point (4 point eastern) spike and I'll spare you the details, but I did field dress him myself with a little help from Justin. Anyway here is my deer and a picture of me with the deer in my giant XXL camo hunting jacket -- hey it was free.

I had a lot of fun!

You can barely see the tines.

Overdue pictures
Monday, October 29, 2007, 03:55 PM
Here are the kids in the maple leaf pile yesterday. They loved playing in the leaves.

The pictures of Logan remind me of me when I was a kid. I think there even might be some pictures somewhere of me with a rake.

Bad Apples
Tuesday, October 23, 2007, 02:35 PM
Why do I try to dissuade people from buying Apples?

- some format incompatibility
- much like an iPod, it is all closed and basically runs your life for you
- upgrading is nearly impossible
- fewer programs
- harder to program for
- only 3.2% of PCs are Macs

I see some exceptions for people in education and those doing graphic design, but for those people, there are the open source alternatives as well.

That said, I'm not exactly happy with windows 100% either, but the problems that I've had with PCs have all been fixable, with Apple they have all been catastrophic.

Third Time is Definitely Not A Charm

Went out hunting again this weekend.

Shot nothing.

Only saw a faun and I couldn't shoot a baby.

Strike Two

I went armed hiking again yesterday. I had fun though. It's kind of cool spending all day with one of my friends.

I'll get something next week.
